If you want to prepare yourself for success in life, you need to be prepared to be challenged at a progression of phases and stages. Reaching a distinct goal will invariably lead to the emergence of new goals, that develop from your initial achievement and that lead to a series of new challenges and goals.
For example, graduating high school leads to the challenges of college, and then graduating college leads to new challenges like graduate school or employment, and so on. Each success will lead to new and often greater struggles. This is just part of the “essence of things”, when it comes to success.
Getting Personal
Have you ever succeeded at something, only to have second thoughts about it after you discovered all the new challenges that were introduced by your initial success. Were you discouraged or motivated by your new challenges?
“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.” Benjamin Franklin
“Success is a journey, not a destination.” Arthur Ashe
“The toughest thing about success is that you’ve got to keep on being a success.” Irving Berlin
