True success engenders an attribution of honor, which is an attribution of high esteem and respect regarding the nature of your efforts and achievements. Honor has been attributed to you because your efforts and achievements have lived up to ideals of value, like integrity, honesty, ethics, and responsibility.

“He has honor if he holds himself to an ideal of conduct though it is inconvenient, unprofitable, or dangerous to do so.” (Walter Lippmann)

“Honor and profit do not always lie in the same sack.” (George Herbert)

“I would rather fail with honor than succeed by fraud.” (Sophocles)
