Life Isn’t Fair

Many have commented that life is unfair. For example, some people are wealthier, some have more educational opportunities, and some have better health than others; and the list can go on and on.

However, any judgment that life is unfair should never be used as an excuse for a person to feel and act like a helpless victim.

With the right values, the right attitudes, and the right commitments every person has opportunities to live a more rewarding and good life. Anyone can choose:

Individual responsibility. No matter what conditions you find yourself in, it is up to you to take responsibility for your actions.

Positive attitude. Think in a positive manner. Choose attitudes that sustain your hopes, dreams, and a sense of positive possibilities.

Commitment to your goals. Where there is a will, there is a way. Create goals and choices to become dedicated to them.

“One of the mistakes many of us make is that we feel sorry for ourselves, or for others, thinking that life should be fair, or that someday it will be. It’s not and it won’t. When we make this mistake we tend to spend a lot of time wallowing and/or complaining about what’s wrong with life. “It’s not fair,” we complain, not realizing that, perhaps, it was never intended to be.” (Richard Carlson)

“If you still believe in fairness, then you’ve led a very lucky life.” (Leigh Bardugo)

“Life isn’t fair, it’s just fairer than death, that’s all.” (William Goldman)
