Life and Becoming Wise

“I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”

Henry David Thoreau

In considering the goal of becoming wise, it is essential to appreciate the importance of becoming wise sooner, rather than later in your life. Other than never becoming wise at all, you will want to avoid becoming wise too late; otherwise your wisdom will end up having had little practical value over your lifetime.

“For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.” (Aristotle)

“Wisdom…. comes not from age, but from education and learning.” (Anton Chekhov)

“Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.”  (Albert Einstein)
