Introspection: The Power of Focusing Within

Withdraw into yourself and look.

Plotinus

“Withdraw into yourself and look.” Plotinus

.

It is necessary, from time to time, to get away from the hectic routines and busy details of your everyday lives. You need to experience being alone and to reflect on your innermost thoughts and feelings.

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” (C.G. Jung)

“We search for happiness everywhere, but we are like Tolstoy’s fabled beggar who spent his life sitting on a pot of gold, under him the whole time. Your treasure–your perfection–is within you already. But to claim it, you must leave the busy commotion of the mind and abandon the desires of the ego and enter into the silence of the heart.”  (Elizabeth Gilbert)

“Wisdom can only come through honest introspection.” (Nirmala Srivastava)

Getting Personal

How committed are you to introspection? How often do you practice it? Do you find it easy or difficult to do?
