“The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for.” Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Finding a purpose for your life can be a challenging task.
Some people are fortunate, and from an early age they discover an overarching purpose for their life. Others, however, and probably the majority, take longer to define for themselves a purpose for their lives
However, it is easy to overthink this problem. There are many things to live for, and therefore, there are many possible purposes. Having an overarching purpose, while satisfying, is not necessarily something for everyone, and not as important as having a series of goals in life that are meaningful and motivating, more than one purpose, and sometimes changing at different times in one’s life.
“Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose.” Viktor Frankl
“Activity without purpose is the drain of your life.” Tony Robbins
“Aim above morality. Be not simply good, be good for something.” Henry David Thoreau

If you don’t see yourself as having an overarching purpose in life, does this bother you? Why or why not?
