Humility and Success

“I believe the first test of a truly great man is in his humility.”

John Ruskin

“I believe the first test of a truly great man is in his humility.” John Ruskin

People that are successful are not arrogant or boastful about their achievements., and they do not think of themselves as being better than others because of what they have achieved.

When you display humility, you will demonstrate both self-confidence and a genuine respect for others. You will not fall victim to either the temptations of feeling excessive pride or of being overly self-centered.

“It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels.” Saint Augustine

“Humility is the true key to success. Successful people lose their way at times. They often embrace and overindulge from the fruits of success. Humility halts this arrogance and self-indulging trap. Humble people share the credit and wealth, remaining focused and hungry to continue the journey of success.” Rick Pitino

“We come nearest to the great when we are great in humility.” Rabindranath Tagore

Getting Personal

Do you agree with the view that if a person is a high achiever, but lacks humility, that he or she is not truly successful? Why or why not?
