Character and Success

“There can be no failure to a man who has not lost his courage, his character, his self-respect, or his self-confidence. He is still a King.” (Orison Swett Marden)

Character is a dimension of success that is reflective of moral and psychological qualities. It is most often described by individual attributes like courage, self-control, a commitment to sound moral values, positive self-respect and positive self-confidence.

Developing a good and strong character is in and of itself a valuable and enriching life achievement.

If you have been able to develop a good and strong character, even if you have not obtained wealth and fame, you will still have known great success. There can be no failure for the person who has been able to develop and maintain a good and strong character.

“The highest reward for one’s toil is not what one gets for it, but what one becomes by it.” (John Ruskin, English art critic and philosopher)

“Primary greatness is on the inside. It’s about character.” (Stephen Covey, American educator, author)

“In the end, it is the person you become, not the things you achieve, that is most important.”  (Les Brown, American motivational speaker.)
