Do You Have the Patience?

“Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” (Napoleon Hill)

To achieve success, in any of its many possible forms, you need to be able to navigate through time delays, invariable mistakes and unpredictable twists and turns. In the oft quoted words of Eddie Cantor, “It takes 20 years to make an overnight success.”

In short, in addition to working hard and persistently, you will need to have patience, because success usually takes longer to achieve than what you had expected or wanted.

Add patience to your hard work and perseverance, and you will have a compelling combination for success.

“To know how to wait is the great secret to success.” (Joseph de Maistre, 18th century French philosopher and diplomat

There is no road too long to the man who advances deliberately and without undue haste; there are no honors too distant to the man who prepares himself for them with patience.” (Jean de la Bruyere, 17th century French philosopher and moralist)

Patience is not about waiting, but how we act when things take longer than we expect.”  (Paulo Coelho, Brazilian novelist)

Getting Personal

Have you ever given up on a goal you had due to having had a lack of patience? What did that feel like? Do you regret having lost patience?

Have you ever achieved an important goal that required having patience? Was having patience a difficult experience? Would you do it again?
