Gratitude in Life

“When it comes to life the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude.” (Gilbert K. Chesterton)

.

In your own words, what is the main idea of the quote above, by the English journalist and philosopher G.K. Chesterton?

“If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” (Albert Einstein)

.

Getting Personal

Is there someone or something that you presently tend to take for granted? What might be a good way to become more appreciative?

INSIGHTS for SUCCESS

“Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn’t stop to enjoy it.” (William Feather)

When you appreciate something, you recognize and pay attention to its good qualities, and you evaluate it in a distinctive way. It is something you intuitively understand should not be taken for granted, and this fact gives it further value. What if we didn’t have the beauty of nature in our world? What if a specific person or thing in our life didn’t exist? What if someone or something didn’t have this or that valued quality?
Considering something in terms of its positive attributes and at the same time keeping in mind the possibility of its absence, loss or potential to be only short lived, heightens its sense of value and places it in a uniquely meaningful perspective of interpretation: with gratitude and not taking it for granted.
