The Wisdom of Gratitude

“He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.” (Epictetus)

Gratitude is an expression of wisdom because gratitude creates a perspective for understanding and appreciating what is most intrinsically priceless, awesome, and inspiring in your life. With a perspective of profound gratitude in your heart, you focus on the joys of your present circumstances, and you withdraw attention from any problems you may have had in the past.

By having a feeling of gratitude, you bestow a higher priority and value on the positive aspects of your current life; and this priority of values will wisely bring more joy, appreciation, and abundance into your life.

Getting Personal

How do you rate yourself in terms of gratitude? Give an example or examples to support your opinion.

How much time do you spend thinking about the people and things you are grateful for? Should you spend more time at this than you currently do. Why or why not?
